Welcome Letter
Dear Colleague,
This is your invitation to attend the forthcoming 2nd Annual National Hospital Nutrition and Hydration Summit, which returns to Melbourne featuring a program packed with the latest research updates and case studies on hospital nutrition and hydration from around the country.
As healthcare professionals you already understand the benefits of quality nutritional care for patients. More recently, the problem of malnutrition in hospitals has been acknowledged by Government with the release of the EQuip 5 criterion in 2010 calling for a shift in perspective and practice to a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to nutritional care and in the prevention of malnutrition. The challenge is now how to implement appropriate, cost-effective strategies that can easily be adapted for different patient populations with varying nutritional needs and obstacles to optimal nutrition.
The value of this summit for any health professional with an interest in nutritional support will be to draw from a range of practical case studies from hospitals and health services across the country that have successfully implemented screening and nutritional management programs.
The Summit is a unique opportunity to network with colleagues from a range of disciplines and locations, to openly discuss strategies and solutions to overcome the barriers to the early detection and treatment of malnutrition.
We look forward to welcoming you in Melbourne in October.
Yours Sincerely,
