3:10 CASE STUDY: Tackling Urban Congestion & Bottlenecks The Brisbane Airport Link

The Airport Link Northern Busway and Airport Roundabout upgrade will provide essential transport infrastructure which will fundamentally change the traffic networks capacity between the CBD, airport and heavily populated northern suburbs (in which 60% of Brisbanes population reside)

The overall APNB project will:

  • Be a multi-dimensional road serving at least three different journeys
  • Address key congestion and road network black spots
  • Be delivered under a unique multi purpose (road and public transport) delivery model
  • Provide a new standard in community engagement and urban design
  • Bring significant innovation and design excellence, delivering major cost savings / funding benefits to the Queensland Government

The continuity and certainty of process demonstrated through the current project pipeline in Brisbane, including NSBT, Airport Link and Northern Link by the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council, and the prompt decisions made in delivering these projects to the market will encourage further private infrastructure investment in infrastructure even in these challenging times
