NATIVE TITLE NEGOTIATIONS: NEGOTIATING FOR POSITIVE OUTCOMES
This workshop will look at:
> Key legal concepts underpinning successful negotiations
> Planning to anticipate challenges during the negotiation process
> Running negotiation meetings in open ended and unstructured format
> Cross cultural negotiations
> Good negotiating practice, and how the negotiation should be conducted
> Valuing benefits, measuring outcomes and resolving disputes
> Working and negotiating with Indigenous communities for mutual benefit
> Dealing with difficult negotiation issues
About your workshop leaders:
Ewan Vickery, Partner, Minter Ellison
Ewan is recognised as a senior commercial lawyer having more than 30 years' specialist experience, both in Australia and internationally, in corporate and business law, mining, oil and gas projects a wide variety of commercial and business transactions, land access and foreign investment.
He successfully represented 16 minerals explorers in pioneering South Australia's unique native title 'Right to Negotiate' procedure for minerals exploration in 1997, and has completed over 100 similar agreements since then.
Christopher Darby, Partner, Minter Ellison
Christopher has worked not only in Australia but in Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Africa both as in-house counsel and as an external advisor. He advises on projects across the mining, resources and energy sector from hard rock to petroleum.
Chris has extensive experience and knowledge advising on drilling, exploration, acquisitions, tenements, project start-up, native title, JV/JOA relations, operations management and regulatory compliance.
