About your Workshop Leader - Marcus Holmes
Marcus Holmes is a Partner at Taylor Linfoot and Holmes who has specialised in native title and Indigenous heritage law since the 1992 Mabo decision.
Marcus has worked for major resources companies in WA, Victoria, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory, and also an experienced commercial property, environmental and mining lawyer.
Marcus works with Indigenous land councils and with native title holder groups through their corporations and is a specialist in Developer/Indigenous and intra-Indigenous dispute resolution.
This workshop will look at:
- Key legal concepts underpinning successful negotiations
- Planning to anticipate challenges during the negotiation process
- Running negotiation meetings in open ended and unstructured format
- Cross cultural negotiations
- Good negotiating practice and how the negotiation should be conducted
- Valuing benefits, measuring outcomes and resolving disputes
- Working and negotiating with Indigenous communities for mutual benefit
- Dealing with difficult negotiation issues
