NWC 2009 Exclusive Interview with Dr Rod Gutierrez
Support systems and managing conflict will be the main issues dominating psychological injury discussion this year, said Dr Rod Gutierrez, Senior Rehabilitation Psychologist and Managing Consultant of Injury Management Solutions.
Dr Gutierrez spoke at the 10th Annual National Workers Compensation Summit in February this year.
He said many managers failed to acknowledge the existence of conflict in their workplace and they needed to be addressed early on.
“From our research, the main issue is that resolving conflict early and well is an extremely important aspect to [prevention].”
He said depression, distress from traumatising events and adjustment disorder were the three main psychological problems occurring in the workplace.
